Civil Drafter is a person who prepare drawings and topographical and relief maps used in civil engineering projects, such as highways, bridges, pipelines, flood control projects, and water and sewerage control systems. Civil Drafters produce drawings using computer-assisted drafting systems (CAD) or drafting machines, or by hand using compasses, dividers, protractors, triangles and other drafting devices. They draft plans and detailed drawings for structures, installations, and construction projects such as highways, sewage disposal systems, and dikes, working from sketches or notes. The main responsibilities as a civil drafter is to draw maps, diagrams, and profiles, using crosssections and surveys, to represent elevations, topographical contours, subsurface formations and structures. Some may also finish and duplicate drawings and documentation packages, according to required mediums and specifications for reproduction using blueprinting, photography, or other duplicating methods. In a normal work day, another thing that Civil Drafters do is they review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from civil engineers to ensure that they conform to design concepts In addition to that, they supervise and train other technologists. The duties of Civil Drafters includes to create drawings for construction projects, create visual guidelines for construction purposes, draft technical details. They also need to specify dimensions, materials, and procedures and draw in minute details of structures. To design the parts of a machine and to consult technical handbooks and tables while in drafting phase. They use computer aided design and drafting systems to prepare drawing, Create and store drawings electronically and explain concepts to construction workers. They are also engaged in prepairng engineering drawings that detail plans and specifications. Create designs used in the layout, construction, and operation of oil and gas fields, refineries, chemical plants, and process piping systems.
