Steps to Become a Gynecologist:

Step-1

Focus on Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB). Aim for high marks to qualify for medical entrance exams.

Step-2

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is required for admission to MBBS programs across the country.

Step-3

Enroll in an MBBS program at a recognized medical college. The program usually spans 5.5 years, including a one-year internship.

Step-4

After completing your MBBS, specialize in Obstetrics and Gynecology by pursuing a Master of Surgery (MS) or Doctor of Medicine (MD) in this field. This course usually lasts for 3 years.

Step-5

Postgraduate training is crucial for hands-on experience. Work under experienced gynecologists to hone your skills.

Step-6

After completing your education and training, you'll need to pass the licensing exams conducted by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or your respective state medical council.

  • Need a valid score in Entrance exams after 12th like NEET, AIIMS, JIPMER, or others. Some colleges also conduct their own entrance exams.
  • Obtain an MBBS degree or a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • An M.S in Gynecology and Obstetrics can be beneficial for advanced studies and opportunities.
