Career as an Automotive Engineer

Is Automotive aftermaket a good career pathAutomotive engineering, besides Automotive Engineering and maritime technology, is a branch of automotive design, integrating elements of structural, electrical, computer, operating systems and systems design related to the development, production and service of motorcycles, vehicles and railcars and their design capacity subsystems. It also entails the alteration of equipment.

  • Must possess at least 50% aggregate from a recognized institution in 12th, from any board PUC/CBSE/ICSE/ISC, etc. However, the cut-off margin varies with the selection process of different colleges. Only a background in science is viable.
  • Should procure a valid score in entrance exams such as JEE-MAINS/CET/VITEEE/JEE-Advanced, etc. Different colleges offer their own entrance exams if you don’t have a satisfactory score in JEE or other competitive exams – colleges like NMIMS, Symbiosis International University, XUB, Andhra University, LPU, etc.
  • To become an Automotive Engineer, one must earn a degree in BE/B.Tech or a diploma. These are the basic qualifications you will require.
  • An M.Tech in Automotive Engineering can also prove to be helpful while looking for a higher degree and better learning.

  • Crafting different alternatives for automotive parts, including free-valve piston engine or dual-clutch motors or alternative air-conditioning systems, to significantly raise fuel economy.
  • Develop communications systems or formulas for uses such as automotive resource management, pollution maintenance, or improved operating protection or product quality.
  • Development or study of vehicle systems in fields such as aerodynamic efficiency, alternative fuels, build quality, hybrid control, braking, engines, steering, tuning, safety or prognostics.
  • Study or incorporate new car innovations including alternative energy sources, battery or hybrid vehicles or smaller or more energy productive automobiles.
  • Review existing compositions, hold meetings or seminars, or speak to peers to keep up-to-date on emerging automotive technologies or promotional schemes.

  • Computer Application – Well versed in using computers and Electronics Experience, involving software and coding, of integrated circuits, CPUs, sensors, electrical devices, and computer equipment.
  • Technology and Innovation – Practical application of science and technology in engineering. This involves the application to the design and manufacture of different products and services of principles, methods, processes, and equipment.
  • Development and Collection - Accumulating natural resources, production methods, quality management, prices and other strategies for optimizing the productive produce and delivery of products.
  • Chemical dexterity – Understanding chemical structure, configuration, and related properties, as well as the chemical reactions and transitions they undergo. This involves the application of chemicals and their experiences, signs of risk, techniques of processing, and methods of disposal.
  • Apprehension of Physics - Awareness and forecasting of physical concepts, laws, their multiple correlations, and methods for interpreting fluid, substance, and atmospheric mechanics, and hydraulic, electronic, nuclear, and micro systems and practices.

  • Error Response - Capacity to recognize whether something is off or is certain to cause problems. This does not require tackling the problem, but rather understanding the presence of one.
  • Brilliance - Potential to create unusual or clever ideas about a particular subject or situation, or to find inventive ways to solve a dilemma.
  • Visual Analysis — The capacity to envision how something is going to take care of when it's moving about or when its pieces are shifted or reconfigured.
  • Pace of Perception – Comparing commonalities and dissimilarities between collections of characters, figures, items, images, or sequences precisely and efficiently. Simultaneously time or one after the other, the stuff to be compared can be viewed. Evaluating a given object with a recalled object often involves this skill.
  • Mathematical Rationale - Tendency to use the best numerical theorems or principles to find a solution.

Once you procure the required qualifications for becoming an Automotive Engineer, a myriad of options are open to you. There are multiple projects you can undertake throughout this line or work, and there are many other fields you can branch out to as well.

  • Integration Engineer: An integration engineer is responsible for developing solutions that an organization needs. The solution itself can be very vague and will depend on a number of factors such as what the industry the organization is in. This can vary from creating custom software for a specific need to developing custom hardware and machinery.
  • Automobile Engineer: Automobile engineers are individuals who model automotive systems and machinery. They perform research on prototypes to further allow them to develop innovative models and schematics for cars. Automobile engineers often add conceptual and physical concepts to these proposals to ensure that they are feasible.
  • Senior Project Manager: The Senior Project Managers are in charge of directing teams to execute programs covering several divisions. Manage personnel, plans, finances and follow the Gate Efficiency and SDLC management protocols over the entire life cycle of the processes. It also involves handling problems, risks and demands for switching projects to ensure effective and prompt completion.
  • Material Engineers: Material engineers manufacture and research structures at a nano scale. Computer systems are used to recognize and model the properties of materials and their parts. They tackle problems in a variety of various engineering areas, such as structural, chemical, electronic, industrial, nuclear and aerospace.
  • Vehicle Integration Engineer: Vehicle Integration Engineers give importance to the production of many hardware and software components and equipment for the smooth operation of vehicles. Such fragments react as nerves and veins for automobiles and also increase momentum. No vehicle can work without accommodating these essential objects. Vehicle alignment to ensure that all devices and components are appropriately combined.
