Electronics Drafters draw wiring diagrams, circuit board assembly diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings used in
the manufacture, installation, and repair of electronic devices and components.
Electronic Drafters draft detail and assembly drawings of design components, circuitry and printed circuit boards, using
computer-assisted equipment or standard drafting techniques and devices. They consult with engineers to discuss and
interpret design concepts, and determine requirements of detailed working drawings.
The main responsibilities as an Electronic Drafter is to locate files relating to specified design project in database
library, load program into computer, and record completed job data. Some may also examine electronic schematics
and supporting documents to develop, compute, and verify specifications for drafting data, such as configuration of
parts, dimensions, and tolerances
Electronics Drafters usually work in comfortable offices. Most Electronic Drafters they spend long periods in front of
computers doing detailed work. A few Electronic Drafters work part time but not very many. The type of work that
they produce usually requires a lot of time and patients. The Electronic Drafters know this and when they start a
project they expect to put a lot of quality time. Electronic Drafters use technical handbooks, tables, calculators, and
computers to complete their work. Most Electronic Drafter’s use Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) systems
to prepare drawings to the specification needed.
